I’m tagged!

So I was tagged in my last post *surpised*… Yos tagged me, how cool is that :P Normally I don’t really care about this, but right now… I thought it was just lots of fun ^^.

The rules:
# Link to your tagger and post these rules.
# Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
# Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names and link to them.
# Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blog.

1. I’m a perfectionist… which means everything has to go perfect, even when it’s the first time I’m trying something.

2. I don’t like cheese for some reason… so no Brie, Blue Cheese, Camembert, Roquefort or anything like that for me!

3. I’m allergic to Metoclopramide (Maxolon®, Primperan®)… if I take it, it kind of seems that I have the Parkinson Disease.

4. When I’m alone at home I’d love to sing… in our livingroom, in the bathroom, well, everywhere basically ^^.

5. At college, I have a couple of friends and we call ourselves ‘De Boudels’ (’What a bustle!’)

6. I almost never have my cellphone on… if you want to tell me something, I’d advise you to email me!

7. On telly: If someone is extremely happy I always seem to start crying… just, because I’m happy for them I think…

Okay, so I’d like to tag…. Mattie, Sophie, Monique, uhh… I will tag some more later.

May 5th: Freedom!
Filed under: News, Qbee, Tv — Marieke @ 5:23 pm, May 5, 2008

I guess I should explain this title to everyone who doesn’t live in the NLD’s first… May 5th is the day we (the Dutch) celebrate we are a free country. It has to do with the 2nd World War and that the NLD’s was freed on May 5th 1945. Because of this, kids and students (like me :P ) get the entire day off to celebrate we are free… and to enjoy the sun *grins*… the weather has been awesome yesterday and today!

I haven’t been doing that much the last couple of days. In the summer I work as a waitress at a little restaurant so that’s what I have been doing. A new year, means new girls who still have to learn everything… and I don’t know what it is but with each new year the new girls seem to be lazier and not in the mood to do anything. (This is my sixth summer so I guess I can say something about it…). I guess children are raised differently now (says someone who’s ‘only’ 21), I mean I would never even think about saying the things they say. And I would want to learn new things and… well, since I’m a perfectionist I want everything to be perfect… it seems they don’t care at all what happens, as long as they get money… I wish this would change again, though I’m afraid it won’t happen anytime soon. *sighs*

Ohh, who thought Sarah was going to leave the IDA competition… I did not expect that to happen. I thought she did a great job last Saturday and there were other girls who didn’t do as well as Sarah. Jessie was awesome… again! She’s my number one again *grins*… especially since Sarah left. The final right now should be between Jessie, Samantha and Rachael… but that’s just my opinion and I’ll respect any other opinion of anyone else.

So, I created a little tea cup for the Qbee… I think this is such a fun activity (since I luvv tea) and some cups are so pretty. You can take a look at them at my quilt or visit the Qbee website!

A couple of days off
Filed under: College, Qbee, Tv, Updates — Marieke @ 6:07 pm, May 2, 2008

Ohh, it so amazing to have a couple of days off… just the thought that I don’t have to worry about college and everything related to that feels so good. I mean, I don’t have to get up early, I don’t have homework (or something like that), I don’t have classes/practicum until 5 pm… Heaven basically! Now, don’t get me wrong. I enjoy having the opportunity to go to college and being able to learn new things and all… It’s just… sometimes it’s nice to relax and do nothing :P .

Okay, so a little more about the project I’m working on right now (college - related). We (that is a fellow student and I) are validating a gas chromatograph (GC) with head-space that can be used to decide if the patients has too much alcohol in his or her blood. I know, this sounds really really dull, but it is fun really. Especially when you actually get to test some blood to see if this person drank too much or drank something that (s)he shouldn’t have been drinking. It’s actually like being at CSI - Groningen… the machine really looks like that which probably is the most fun.
I’m also working on a literature project which unfortunaly I cannot tell you about over here (because you are not allowed to tell on which things the hospital is doing research and all). I can say that I need to look up which research has already been done, so I’m reading through lots of articles. It’s fun, because this actually has to do with people (children to be exact), and not with a drug that may never get on the market.

I have been validating fanlistings yesterday and today. I actually managed to validate the third one all on myself *bounces*. I really tried to validate the second one on myself as well, but it contained an error that I couldn’t solve so I asked my friends at the Qbee and they solved it for me… thanks Sarah and Rachael! There are still 5 or 6 left and after that I want to validate my Quilt… and after that… well, I guess we’ll see as it will probably take some time until this is finished.
There is a new activity at the Qbee which I will probably join soon! Expect a teacup anytime soon *smiles*.

I’m so looking forward to the new ‘ I’d do anything ‘. I mean, I really have no idea who’s going to win this contest. I listened to a couple of past weeks songs and pff… it is hard to decide which Nancy should win. I love Jessie because of her personality, but I also like Sarah and… I’m gonna watch it tomorrow… for sure ^^!

Sophie’s B’day!

So, before I start talking about anything…

Happy B’day Sophie, happy B’day Sophie, happy B’day… happy B’day, happy B’day Sophie!!! *bounces* I hope you’re having such a fun time at the moment… please don’t too many slices of B’day cake though :P . Wouldn’t want you to feel sick tomorrow (though I know you can eat a lot… what would I worry about *grins*) I really would like to be there to celebrate your birthday next year, so I’ll try ^^!

As a B’day present, I updated your fanlisting and validated it to XHTML 1.0 Transitional (you’ve got to take a look at it… here, here, here, here and here). Jem helped me with it, she’s the best! I may try to validate it to
XHTML 1.0 Strict later on… but I guess this is a great start. I have a long way ahead… validating everything… but right now I know that I can do it if I want to.

Before I forget, I want to dedicate this post to Sophie’s old domain ‘XenasBigBattle[dot]com’. Last Monday Sophie told me this domain is no longer online and that she doesn’t really care about this (because she has the awesome new ItsAllGreen[dot]ORG) but I do… Sophie and I got to know each other because she had this domain and it hosted lots of beautiful websites… so, may it never be forgotten and may it have a warm place in our hearts ^^.

Okay, so it’s Sunday today which means we get to see the result-show of IDA tonight ^^. I couldn’t see the live-show on Saturday, because I was working at that time but my parents taped it and I saw it in the middle of the night. That’s why I’m not sure if I can give a good review about this show (because everything was a little fuzzy in my mind and I was tired and all). All that I can say is that I don’t have a clue who’s going to win this competition… I think either Ashley or Keisha will be eliminated tonight… or maybe Niamh… the other 5 Nancy’s all could play Nancy… in my opinion. Okay, I think some deserve it a bit more, but that just has to do with their personalities and not with the way they perform.

I will try to update this week about college stuff, we only have two college days this week (because of the Queen’s day this Wednesday and the Ascension on Thursday and Friday)… so I guess I will have enough time to do this ^^.

I’d do Anything and more…

Okay, so we (this is my mom, dad and I) just saw the result show of ‘I’d do anything’. How much fun to see Kerry Ellis talking to the girls! Anyway, I’m not going to give the big review I gave last week… I have been really tired this week and it has been a little hard to focus and all. So… it’s just gonna be short and basic… and maybe I will tell a little more about it next week, that is… if I can remember.

Jessie still is a big favorite of mine, though I was sad she was singing a bubbly song this week… it wasn’t anything extra special. I also love to hear Samantha sing… she is improving so much so quickly! Besides these two girls I also think Rachel can sing beautifully (I think she is the best singer of the bunch, however, it doesn’t move me as much as Jessie and Samantha do.) and I really like Sarah (it’s so awesome she dyed her hair *grins*). These four girls are the best of the group and I hope they will stay in competition for quite some time.

Since I mentioned four there are (were) still five left. There is Jodie, who can sing lovely but… well, I don’t know… I just don’t like her personality. Somehow she seems to fond of herself or she gives ‘too much’ or… I dunno! Second is Niamh who is a sweet, young girl but doesn’t look like Nancy that I know from Oliver… I know, I know… maybe she could be a new kind of Nancy… We’ll wait to see what she can do next week. The third remaining Nancy is Keisha. I did not like her performance of yesterday! Sorry… I seriously thought she was (is) the weakest Nancy this week and that she deserved to be in the sing off this week. However, she wasn’t which meant that Ashley and Francesca were (with Ashley having the least amount of votes). I didn’t really like Ashley this week, she’s a little boring in my opinion and doesn’t have the special ‘umpf’… I dunno how to explain. Francesca didn’t do so great either (though in my opinion her performance was better than Keisha’s and Ashley’s) and it was her who sang the final song (which means she was the one to leave the show). I’m looking forward to see who will be leaving next week *grins*

Okay, so about my own life… my Bachelor project has actually started. It is a little strange to be ‘working’ in the hospital and to get free coffee and tea (since I have a nifty little pass which gives me access to places where normal visitors can’t come). We haven’t done anything special yet unfortunately, so I hope this will improve this week. Right now I’m only reading through articles and researching things… however, they have a new machine (I’m not sure exactly what this was… I kind of forgot *oops!*) and we (this is me and another pharmacy student) get to validate it for methanol and aceton. Guess I will have to wait and see. I will give you an update on this all once I know a little more about it.

It’s weird it’s already April and that the summer really isn’t that far away anymore. I mean, only a couple of weeks working on the Bsc-project, and then I get to assist the practicum (which is something I’m really looking forward to) and then I’ll have my summer break… doesn’t time fly?
